About a month ago I found out that my lovely roommate MacKenzie (spelled that right) had family in San Antonio. Soon after this discovery (5 mins tops) we started planning a trip to see them. So, not as spontaneous as my College Station trip, but still exciting.
We left Friday around 6:30pm and arrived at their house at
12:30am. Saturday morning I awoke to the smell of bacon. I heart bacon. Her aunt is so nice that she made us breakfast (every morning)! Saturday we went to the Markado in downtown SA. It was a lot of fun to walk around and look at the different stores. To me, it was like a fancy piece of Mexico placed 5 hours closer to Denton for me to enjoy. After the Markado we went back to the house and I took a nap. It was glorious! A few hours later we were off to a little get togeth with friends.
Sunday was just as much fun! After breakfast, me and Mac were looking out the window and were looking at the deer. Apparently, all the deer live in San Antonio. I didn't know this until I came here. They just walk around this neighborhood and eat all the plants. It's really funny! You can just look out the window and bam, there's a deer. On this particular morning we counted around 20 deer (an all time record) that were just walking around outside enjoying the cool morning. Naturally, Mac wanted to pet/feed/love one, so, we went outside to feed them. Lucky for me, Mac not only is a dog whisperer but a deer whisperer too and got one to eat from a cup in her hand. I of course had to do it too and guess what?! I am a deer whisperer too! I FED A DEER! After feeding the deer we went to the pool and tanned/burned for a few hours :D. It was a lot of fun to just lay there and read my GLAMOR magazine. I felt really fancy. After our burning/tanning we went back to the house for a while and then left again to spend the evening at this town called Gruene. It was so much fun!
We had dinner at this great restaurant called the Gristmill. Basically the Gristmill is this old rustic restaurant with country style food... mmm it's so good. That night was great. We laughed, we took pictures with random guys (Mac's uncle's doing), we sang and an old man tried to woo me with his music...don't worry old man, one day I will be old too! and I'll come back to Gruene. Monday was bittersweet. It was time for us to go back to Denton. I don't think I've ever been sad to leave a place other than my parents house. It was so fun and Mac's family is so sweet :). The trip back was fun though! Met up with my sister and nephew and had lunch. We made it back in time for the Bachelorette and John & Kate plus 8. Don't worry being in SA didn't make us forget what we like!
Woot for mini vacas...next stop, Austin!
